Despite much of the planet being available to the intrepid traveller thanks to more disposable income and ever cheaper airfares - domestic holidays in the UK have not been squeezed out of the market.
Some of the finest beaches anywhere can be found in Cornwall, and granted, it doesn't have the climate of the Caribbean, but on a hot August day it's hard to beat.

During June to August, it can be crowded, but as early as September the crowds depart and it's often possible to secure an acre or two for yourself.
